Our head office is based in Johannesburg, and have a smaller office in Cape Town - South Africa.

We have a network of freight agents worldwide, who predominantly specialize in the needs of the film industry. Through this worldwide network we are able to take care of any clients requirements.

General Cargo

We can arrange collection, customs documentation and delivery of camera equipment, wardrobe, grips & lighting gear, props, make up and any other requirements for the duration of a film shoot and return to the hire company either locally or overseas. We can also arrange ATA Carnets if needed.

Courier

We arrange for the import, or export of negative, or any other recording media worldwide, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We know where the shipment is at all time and able to give guaranteed delivery times, with follow up delivery details where required.

We also can take of any other requirement, sending parcels all around the world, with Same Day, Overnight or General delivery to any destination worldwide.

Cross Border Movement

We specialize in movement of vehicles over borders, especially Mozambique and Namibia. With bigger movements we have someone at the border helping vehicles through. We prepare and submit paperwork to customs ahead of time, to minimize time vehicle spends at the border.

Set Representative

Subject to agreement we arrange for our representative to be 'on set' on any location in the world to take care of freight requirements, temporary import of equipment and daily set requirements, dispatch and receive daily film rushes to production houses and pick ups from the labs.

Non X-Ray

In view of the events connected to the September 11th incident in the USA, most airlines departing South Africa have withdrawn their non x-ray or scanning facilities for all cargo. In conjunction with the film industry we have run several tests on x-ray equipment currently being used at airports in South Africa. Results are not sufficiently conclusive to give 100% certainty that no damage to film occurs.

As a result we have agreements with several airlines, domestically and internationally - specifically to the UK and USA, to have carton contents physically checked to comply with the strict security regulations required by local and international carriers.

Terms and Conditions

All articles are carried at owner's/customer's risk and Film Freight accepts no liability for loss or damage to such property of any consequential loss or damage arising there form.

Packing of goods are the responsibility of the sender, and Film Freight will not accept any responsibility for breakage

All charges are levied according to mass or volume per consignment (whichever is the greater) and not by the value of the article/s carried unless agreed to the contrary in writing by the carrier.

Without derogating from the provisions of clauses above:-

-  should it nevertheless be held that the carrier has been negligent and is liable for any loss and/or damage, liability shall be limited to R40.00 per kilogram to a maximum or R400.00 per consignment carried, but in all cases shall not exceed the actual manufactured cost of the article/s.

Whilst Film Freight undertakes to use all reasonable endeavors to effect delivery of any goods at its receiving terminus or depot at the time advertised, Film Freight does not guarantee that such goods will in fact be delivered at such advertised times and without prejudice to the a foregoing limitations on Film Freight's liability, Film Freight disclaims any and all liability for any consequence arising from late delivery of such goods.

 

Payment of invoices are strictly 30 days from invoice date and interest will be charged at prime +2%. All monies outlaid on behalf of the client are subject to a disbursement fee of 5%
